Cookie Policy

Last updated: 6 October 2026

This Cookie Policy explains the use of cookies and similar technologies on BookGallery, available at www.bookgallery.net.

For further information about the processing of personal information, the applicable legal bases and the rights of individuals, please refer to the BookGallery Privacy Policy.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small files or items of technical information that may be stored on a user's device while browsing a website.

They may be used to enable the proper operation of the website, ensure its security, maintain an authenticated session, remember certain settings or, where applicable and subject to consent where required, provide additional statistical, functional or marketing-related features.

Technologies other than cookies may perform similar functions. References to cookies in this Policy therefore include, where applicable, other technologies that allow information to be stored on a user's device or information already stored on that device to be accessed.

2. Components Detected on the Website

As of the date of the latest update of this Policy, a scan carried out on 6 October 2026 using Usercentrics for Wix detected a total of seven components on the website.

The following components were declared and classified as essential:

Wix CMS — category: Essential
A Wix platform component used to manage and deliver website content and technical functionality.

Usercentrics for Wix — category: Essential
A service used to display the cookie banner, manage consent preferences and store the choices made by visitors.

The same scan also detected five requests to URLs belonging to the pages.parastorage.com domain, which the scanner did not automatically identify or categorise.

These elements are therefore shown by Usercentrics as “uncategorised” components. An uncategorised component is one that has been detected by the scanner but whose function has not been automatically identified.

These elements remain subject to review and are not independently classified by BookGallery as marketing, profiling or analytics technologies unless and until their technical function can be reliably identified.

The most recent scan did not identify separate declared components in the Marketing category or non-essential components in the Functional category.

The Wix platform nevertheless includes native functionality such as analytics tools, member-management features, Blog functionality and other technical services. Such functionality does not necessarily appear as a separate component in a Usercentrics scan.

3. Strictly Necessary Cookies and Technologies

BookGallery uses cookies and other technical technologies necessary for the operation of the website and the provision of features requested by users.

These technologies may be used, for example, for:

  • security and abuse prevention;

  • correct display and loading of pages;

  • platform stability and operation;

  • session management;

  • identification of registered users;

  • member authentication;

  • protection of APIs and communications;

  • storage of cookie and consent preferences.

Under Article 122 of Italian Legislative Decree No. 196/2003, as amended, storing information on a user's device or accessing information already stored on that device does not require consent where the operation is carried out solely for the transmission of a communication or is strictly necessary to provide a service expressly requested by the user.

Technologies used for purposes other than those that are strictly technical or necessary are instead subject to prior consent where required by applicable law.

According to Wix technical documentation, the platform may use various essential cookies for security, stability, session management, identification and proper operation.

Their duration may vary from the browsing session itself to longer periods, depending on their specific function.

The names, purposes and retention periods of technical cookies used by the platform may change over time as a result of technical or functional updates made by Wix.

4. Wix Analytics and Statistical Tools

Wix provides website administrators with native statistical functionality generally known as Wix Analytics or Wix Analytics & Reports.

These functions may generate or process statistics relating, for example, to visits, sessions, pages viewed, traffic sources, devices used and interactions with the website.

When the consent banner is active, Wix indicates that non-essential Analytics cookies and scripts are disabled until the visitor provides the relevant consent.

Accordingly, if a visitor rejects the Analytics category, certain information about that visitor's browsing activity may not be included in the statistical information available to the Data Controller.

This also explains why Wix statistics may sometimes show fewer visits or interactions than the website may actually have received.

Technical processing carried out by Wix where necessary for security, platform stability, proper operation and abuse prevention remains separate from non-essential analytics processing.

BookGallery does not currently use Google Analytics and has not installed Meta Pixel or other proprietary tools intended for advertising profiling or behavioural advertising.

5. Member Functionality, Authentication and Technical Cookies

BookGallery uses Wix member functionality to allow registered users to publish comments and use certain interactive Blog features.

The platform may use cookies or other technical identifiers necessary to recognise a registered member, maintain an authenticated session, protect the account and provide the functionality requested by the user.

Wix indicates that its platform cookies may also be used to identify registered members and to ensure website security and stability.

Where such technologies are strictly necessary for authentication and for providing a service requested by the user, they are treated as technical technologies necessary for the operation of the relevant functionality.

6. reCAPTCHA and Registration Protection

BookGallery uses the Google reCAPTCHA functionality integrated into Wix security settings in order to protect new-member registration against bots, spam and abusive automated access.

reCAPTCHA may process technical information and signals relating to the connection, device and interaction with the service in order to determine whether a request originates from a human user or an automated system.

BookGallery uses this functionality exclusively for security and abuse-prevention purposes and not for advertising purposes.

If a particular implementation of reCAPTCHA, or any future modification of that service, involves cookies or other non-essential technologies that require consent, their use will be managed in accordance with the visitor's preferences and applicable law.

As of 2 April 2026, Google states in relation to reCAPTCHA/Fraud Defense that the customer acts as controller of end-user data and Google acts as processor of Customer Data within the relevant service.

7. Login Through Google or Facebook

The website's member functionality may allow users to register or log in using external authentication services, including Google and Facebook, in addition to registration using an email address.

Use of these methods is optional.

When a user voluntarily chooses an external authentication provider, an interaction with that provider may occur and technologies necessary for authentication may be used in accordance with the provider's own procedures.

Any cookies or other technologies used directly by Google, Facebook or other authentication providers in connection with their services are also governed by the relevant provider's own privacy and cookie information.

Users may avoid social-login services by choosing email registration or login where available.

8. Other Non-Essential Technologies

As of the date of the latest update, BookGallery does not intentionally use proprietary technologies intended to profile users or provide behavioural advertising.

Google Analytics, Meta Pixel and similar proprietary advertising systems are not currently installed on the website.

If BookGallery introduces additional technologies in the future, such as advertising services, additional analytics platforms, social plugins, maps, embedded content or other third-party services requiring consent, this Cookie Policy and the consent-management system will be updated where necessary.

Non-essential technologies subject to consent will only be used after the user has made a valid choice where such consent is required by applicable law.

9. Consent Management Through Usercentrics

BookGallery uses Usercentrics for Wix to manage preferences relating to cookies and other technologies that may be subject to consent.

The system allows BookGallery to:

  • display a cookie banner;

  • allow visitors to accept or reject certain categories;

  • record the preferences expressed by visitors;

  • allow visitors to subsequently modify or withdraw their choices.

Usercentrics manages technologies using categories such as Essential, Functional, Analytics and Marketing.

Strictly necessary technologies may remain active regardless of consent where their use is necessary for the technical operation of the website or to provide a function requested by the user.

Non-essential technologies that require consent are instead managed in accordance with the preferences expressed by the visitor.

10. Prior Blocking of Non-Essential Components

When the Usercentrics consent banner is active, Wix indicates that only essential cookies and scripts are initially loaded and that compatible non-essential technologies are blocked until the corresponding consent has been obtained.

This mechanism also applies to Wix Analytics technologies that are subject to consent.

However, not all external components can necessarily be controlled automatically by the banner.

In particular, third-party applications obtained through the Wix App Market and custom code may require additional checks or configuration.

For this reason, BookGallery carries out periodic checks, particularly when new applications are installed or new functionality is introduced.

11. Changing or Withdrawing Preferences

Users may change or withdraw their preferences relating to cookies and other consent-based technologies at any time using the privacy-preference control or trigger provided by Usercentrics on the website.

Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out on the basis of consent before it was withdrawn.

Users may also use their browser settings to view, block or delete cookies.

However, manually disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent or impair certain website functions, including authentication, session management, security functions or storage of privacy preferences.

12. Applications, Code and Third-Party Services

BookGallery currently uses the following applications within the Wix platform:

  • Usercentrics for Wix

  • Wix Multilingual

  • Wix Pro Gallery

  • Wix Blog

The presence of a Wix application does not automatically mean that the application uses non-essential cookies. Classification depends on the specific technologies actually used by the relevant functionality.

BookGallery periodically reviews website components using the Usercentrics scanner, particularly when new applications, services or functionality are added.

Links on BookGallery may lead to external websites, including Amazon.

When a visitor clicks an external link and leaves BookGallery, cookies and other technologies used by the destination website are controlled by the relevant third party and are governed by that party's own privacy and cookie policies.

13. Periodic Review of Components

The configuration of cookies and other technologies used by the website may change over time as a result of Wix platform updates, changes to installed applications, developments in Usercentrics or the introduction of new functionality.

BookGallery may therefore carry out new scans and technical checks in order to verify the presence and classification of technologies used on the website.

The most recent Usercentrics scan taken into account for this Policy was completed on 6 October 2026.

Scan results represent the website configuration detected at the time the scan is carried out and may subsequently change.

This Cookie Policy will be updated where necessary to reflect significant changes to the technologies used or to the configuration of the website.
